WE HELP THOSE MOST IN NEED
We began by
providing transitional housing for single parent homeless
families with children. We now have housing programs for
seniors and low-income individuals and families. We also
work to prevent homelessness by providing emergency
assistance of food and clothing as well as rent and utility
assistance.

 Megan
met a man shortly out of high school and the two of them
have four children over a period of some years. During this
time, Megan is enduring severe physical, mental and
emotional abuse from her boyfriend. Megan decides it is time
to leave. She packs up her children and leaves the state,
with no money or support to guide her on what to do next.

 Jane,
age 30, has 2 young children ages 4 and 5, both are girls.
She lost her housing because her live-in boyfriend left her
and she could no longer afford to pay the rent. She and her
children are currently staying with her stepfather who has
physically and sexually abused her in the past. She is
afraid to stay there much longer and is considering living
in her car with her two children since the weather is still
warm. She is not sure if she and her children will be safe
anywhere.

 Mary,
age 72, lost her husband of 50 years to cancer about 6
months ago. She and her husband both received retirement
benefits totaling approximately $1,300 per month. Their home
is paid for. However, his retirement benefits ceased after
his death. Mary now receives approximately $650 per month.
She is now struggling to pay her utility bills, pharmacy
co-pays and taxes on the house. Many times she has to cut
back on buying food in order to keep her utilities on.
